Delicious Vegan Pizza

I wanted to start my vegan blog with my favorite food …… Pizza. The pizza is the most famous food all around the world. I’ve never met a person who doesn’t want a fresh piece of baked dough with many ingredients on top, which keeps you full all day.

When I was a child we always begged our mom to make pizza for me and my brother because we wanted to eat pizza every day three times a day. Sometimes she was making pizza for us and our friends after all day of playing and chasing. I still remember that moment of pure happiness and smiling :). She was making the perfect pizza with homemade dough and homemade tomato sauce, some ham and plenty of cheese. When I started being vegetarian I was eating pizza with too much cheese on it, with many different flavors and I thought that pizza can’t be pizza if it’s without cheese on it.

When I became a vegan I thought that I would never eat pizza again because of the cheese, I thought that cheese is what makes the pizza tasty and delicious. But I was wrong :). For some people vegan pizza is not a real pizza because they only see some veggies and sauce spread on baked dough. But I guarantee that this pizza will be your number one from now on.

Vegan Pizza Ingredients

I was trying to make the perfect recipe for the dough and also to combine the ingredients that I love. So I came up with this recipe. The dough is really easy to make and its made from gluten free flour (I made the same recipe for the dough with whole wheat flour) homemade pesto and fresh ingredients. The pesto sauce that I made I also use for sandwiches, bruschetti and pasta. This pesto is easy to make and very delicious. I love to serve this pizza to my friends and watch their reaction. They all have the same conclusion that this pizza is absolutely amazing.

I N G R E D I E N T S

For the dough:

  • 3/4 cup gluten free flour;
  • 2/3 cup warm water (not hot);
  • Pinch of salt;

For the sauce:

  • Handful of fresh basil;
  • 1/4 cup olive oil;
  • 1 oz ground sunflower seeds;
  • 1 garlic glove;
  • Pinch of salt;

Other ingredients:

  • 6 sliced black olives;
  • 6 sliced cherry tomatoes;
  • 6 sliced mushrooms;
  • 0.8 oz canned/frozen corn;
  • Sesame seeds;

I N S T R U C T I O N S

For the dough:

  1. Preheat oven to 200 °C and position a rack in the middle of the oven;
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, water and salt. Put a few droppings of olive oil on your hands and work the dough from outside to inside;
  3. Spread the dough on a baking paper until its pretty thin;

For the sauce:

  1. Combine basil, garlic and sunflower seeds in a food processor and pulse until chopped;
  2. Add the olive oil and process until smooth;
  3. Season with salt;

For the pizza:

  1. Top the dough with the desired amount of pesto, sliced mushrooms, sliced tomatoes, olives and corn;
  2. Season it with pinch of salt;
  3. Put olive oil on the edges of the dough and sprinkle with sesame seeds;
  4. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown crust;
