Homemade crunchy crackers

Homemade crunchy crackers

I think that we all love crackers and want to eat them with a dip. I love their crunchiness in combination with spices that can vary depending on the desire and taste. This recipe offers you that kind of pleasure. I love to prepare several types of crackers for the weekend, when I relax, and watch a movie. They are very easy to make and contain several ingredients. You can add spices to your liking and also you can add vegan cheese for richness of flavours. For this recipe, I used dried oregano, basil and garlic powder.

They go great with any type of drink (with beer are perfect🙂), but in this case I ate them in combination with white wine and sparkling water (because it was a movie night🙂). Also, these crunchy crackers go great with tea, if you want a salty version with your hot cup of tea.

I served them with two types of olives, black with seeds and sour green olives with peppers. For the dip, I chose to be “malijano”, it is actually a very famous Macedonian dish that is widely consumed in Macedonia, and is prepared from green peppers, eggplant, oil and salt. The peppers and the eggplant are pressed, peeled, and then fried for a long time, up to several hours. Then it needs to be closed in jars and is usually eaten in winter. But at home, we usually eat it all year round, because it goes well with warm homemade bread and vegan white cheese.

You can eat these crunchy crackers with a variety of dips to your liking.I would also recommend my recipe for sunflower spread. Click here for the sunflower spread recipe.

If you want, you can add sesame seeds, sunflower, pumpkin or flax to them for extra crunchiness.In the recipe I used white flour and corn flour, with 3 tablespoons of olive oil. You need to knead dough with the ingredients and the water together, and stretch the dough with a rolling pin, so if you have a pizza cutter, cut it into squares. Put them on baking paper and bake for 10-15 minutes. The only thing about these crackers is that you can not stop eating them

  1. In a mixing bowl, mix together the dry ingredients first (flour, salt, oregano, basil and the garlic powder). Mix the ingredients;
  2. Add the oil and the water and start to knead a dough with your hands, until you get a compact hand sticky mixture. If the mixture seems to be dry, add a little more water, if it’s too sticky add little bit more white flour;
  3. Divide the dough into two balls and with the help of a rolling pin, roll the balls as much as you can to get a thin crust;
  4. Using a pizza cutter , cut the crust into squares and transfer them to a baking tray previously lined with parchment paper. If necessary, sprinkle with salt on top;
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 10 minutes until the crackers are golden brown. Serve chilled;
